The Next Bold Step campaign is more than just a fundraising effort; it is a transformational commitment to expanding opportunities for our students, enhancing our academic programs, advancing cutting-edge applied research, and strengthening our impact on the industries and communities we serve. It will define MSOE’s future and ensure that we continue to lead in technical education for generations to come.

A campaign priority, the Robert D. Kern Engineering Innovation Center will empower the minds at MSOE who are actively shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The facility is intentionally designed to integrate hands-on learning experiences for every engineering discipline.

Funding Priorities

MSOE’s vision is to set the standard for preparing leaders to solve the diverse technical challenges of the 21st century. To achieve this vision, MSOE has set the goal of becoming the national leader in the education of applied artificial intelligence at the undergraduate level.

In support of this, MSOE is engaging in a comprehensive fundraising campaign to secure the resources to take this next bold step. MSOE’s campaign fundraising goal is $125 million. We have divided this goal into six funding opportunities.

Operational Support Funds

Unrestricted contributions and other gifts for the general support of MSOE departments, programs, centers, and other operating units make an enormous impact on how MSOE can shape and enhance the student experience. These funds can be deployed in ways to meet the university’s greatest needs, and can support student projects, scholarships, faculty, and capital needs.

General Excellence

These funds support specific purposes across MSOE’s departments and programs – everything from intercollegiate athletics teams to non-degree programs, Career Connections, Residence Life and more. Restricted funds are the building blocks of excellence across a myriad of university areas and activities.

CAPITAL PROJECTS

MSOE will set the standard for preparing leaders to solve the diverse technical challenges of tomorrow by constructing a modern, flexible Engineering Innovation Center to promote innovative modes of education and supports the growing needs of our students. The $76.5 million-dollar academic building will have flexible labs, modern classrooms and public spaces that support collaborative learning across all disciplines, with a focus on integrating AI and Machine Learning into MSOE’s Engineering Programs.

SCHOLARSHIPS

In order to support our students, keep MSOE affordable and attract top students from Wisconsin and beyond, MSOE must increase its ability to offer privately funded scholarship awards. These funds can be used to make it possible for students to attend MSOE and can make the difference in a family’s decision to send their student to our campus.

Faculty Support

MSOE seeks to become the national leader in applied AI education. In order to remain on the cutting edge of this rapidly evolving field as well as our other engineering, business and health care related programs, MSOE must secure resources to attract and retain top teaching talent. Chairs, professorships, faculty-oriented research funds and other resources can make the difference in keeping our outstanding faculty and recruiting bright new minds to instruct our students.

Student Support

Student-focused funds promoting undergraduate research, extracurricular organizations and experiential learning activities enrich campus life and give our students practical experience working together as teams, participating in research, and connecting to industry.
